The Nanaimo Buccaneers were able to beat their neighbours and rivals for the first time this season.
The Bucs doubled up the Oceanside Generals by a 4-2 score in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League action Thursday at the Nanaimo Ice Centre. Nanaimo scored four unanswered goals in the second period to take a 4-1 lead into the third period and held on the rest of the way.
Chase Heslop, Jacob Gosling, Trey Watson and Zachary Fulton scored for the Buccaneers and Austin Dendl made 40 saves for the win in goal as the Bucs were outshot 42-25.
The first-place Gens had won the previous two meetings this season.
Come check out the Bucs at home this week Nov 14 as we take on the Campbell River Storm in a battle for second place.
