Buccaneers celebrating a 6-1 win against the Kerry Park Islanders Thurs Night at Pirate Ship

The Buccaneers are 2 weeks into the season now and hold a 2-2 record.  The Buccaneers have a new group this year the team is learning every game and bonding as a team as there have been a lot of new additions early.

The team opened up the season at home against the Oceanside Generals but even though the Bucs carried a lot of the play and out shot the Generals the final score was 5-2 Generals.  James Brendaland was the star of the game turning 3-4 grade A chances by the Buccaneers.  Goals for the Buccaneers were scored by # 27 Dylan Tonks and # 9 Tate Roulette.

Saturday night the Bucs headed to Comox and fought of some rust and defeated the Glacier Kings 4-3 for the first win of the season.  Hunter Macdonald and Ben Coghlin potted their first VIJHL goals.

During the week the Buccaneers also made severals trades as follows:

*Dawson Reinfjell was moved to Mission City Outlaws for Future Considerations

*Kyler Shmigelsky was acquired by the Buccaneers from the Revelstoke Grizzlies for Future Considerations and the rights to Tyson Mclean.

*Briar Whyte was acquired by the Buccaneers from the Golden Rockets for future considerations.

*Buccaneers signed Goaltender Malcolm Patry from Quebec.

Going into week two the Bucs added Kyler to the lineup and took on the Kerry Park Islanders.  Bucs were lackluster in the first two periods but showed up in the third for 4 goals to win convincingly 6-1.  Goals scored by Brendan Rogers x 2, Dylan Tonks, Dylan Devers, Erik Hanus, Ben Coghlan

The next night the Bucs travelled to Campbell River for the biggest test of the year.  With out Jacob Gosling who was hurt and Briar Whyte who has not arrived yet the bucs took on the Storm.  Bucs Held a 3-2 lead going into the third but could not hold off the Storm and lost the game 4-3.  Bucs Dylan Tonks had a hat trick in the game.

The team is exciting to watch and continues to improve every game.  We plan to play this upcoming week with a full lineup for the first time.  The Buccaneers take on the Comox Glacier Kings Thursday night at 715 pm at the pirate ship.  Friday night we take a trip down to Peninsula to take of the first place Panthers.
