The Nanaimo Buccaneers dropped a tough 5–2 decision at home to the visiting Victoria Cougars.
It was an uphill climb from the start, with the Bucs taking a penalty just 15 seconds into the game. Victoria capitalized on the early opportunity and set the tone, scoring on the ensuing power play and keeping momentum through all three periods.
Special teams proved to be the difference, as the Cougars struck four times on seven power-play opportunities — including five chances in the third period alone. Nanaimo battled back and went 1-for-3 on their own power play, but the early deficit and penalty trouble were too much to overcome.
The Bucs look to regroup quickly as they head to Westshore for their next matchup on Wednesday, Nov 26th. Puck drops at 7:00 pm
