Barclay Shines With Double VIJHL Recognition

Nanaimo Buccaneers rookie defenceman Nate Barclay continues to turn heads around the league, earning a pair of VIJHL accolades heading into the Christmas break.

Barclay was named the league’s Defenseman of the Week for Week 16, after posting one goal and two assists for three points in two games. His strong two-way play and reliability on the back end have made him a key contributor in the Bucs’ recent surge.

The league also announced Barclay as December’s Rookie Defenseman of the Month. Over six games, he recorded three goals and five assists for eight points, showcasing impressive consistency and poise for a first-year player.

It’s been a standout stretch for Barclay, who continues to cement himself as one of the VIJHL’s top emerging defencemen — and a player the Buccaneers organization is incredibly proud to have on their blue line.
