Buccaneers Edge Wolves in Thrilling Wednesday Overtime Victory

The Nanaimo Buccaneers secured a thrilling 3-2 win over the Westshore Wolves in a closely contested Wednesday evening match. The game was marked by intense action, with both teams creating multiple high quality scoring opportunities throughout the contest.

 

In the pre-game interview, Westshore Wolves coach Mike Nesbitt said, “Nanaimo is a big strong team,” and gave credit to the Buccaneers for a late-season trade with Port Alberni, calling it “a good trade.”

 

The game got off to a physical and hardworking start, with both teams battling feverishly. Adam Ranger started in goal for the Buccaneers and made several key saves throughout the game.

 

The Buccaneers’ Jaxin Karst opened the scoring in the first period with a goal at 15:13. However, the Wolves responded with a rebound goal from Sam Spring at 12:44, assisted by Parker Atkinson and Linkin Niedoba.

 

In the second period, the Buccaneers took the lead with a goal from Bostyn MacDonald at 10:44, assisted by Kai Verbrugge and Casey Rutland. However, the Wolves tied the game in the third period with a goal from Linkin Niedoba at 9:26, assisted by Parker Atkinson.

 

The game went into overtime, where brand new Buc Koen Gauthier scored the winning goal at 6:16, assisted by Ethan Nordli and Jaxin Karst.
