Pairs of goals from newcomer Kane Law and Nate Barclay powered the Nanaimo Buccaneers to a dominant 9–2 road victory Tuesday night at Kerry Park Arena.
Law made an immediate impact in a Buccaneers uniform, scoring twice and earning third star honours, while Barclay matched him with a pair of goals to fuel Nanaimo’s offensive surge, bringing his season total to 13 goals. The Bucs jumped out to an early 3–0 lead and never looked back, carrying advantages of 3–0 and 5–2 through the opening two periods.
A balanced attack rounded out the scoring, with first star Dreyton Hayward and Zach Spafford each netting their 9th goals of the season, Nate Hughes adding his 4th, Madden Cruickshank burying his team-leading 16th, and Casey Rutland contributing his 6th, showcasing the team’s depth and confidence.
Between the pipes, rookie Anton Palmquist was steady, turning aside 15 shots to secure the win as Nanaimo continued to roll in the VIJHL North Division.
After a pair of road wins, the Bucs return home on January 22nd at the Nanaimo Ice Centre, with puck drop set for 7:15pm. Go Bucs!
