Nanaimo Buccaneers General Manager Bill Bestwick is pleased to announce the signing of 2007 Defenseman Mason Melo.
Melo is described as a powerful skater with strong offensive instincts combined with solid defensive play. Melo is a coveted right-shot D, something that has been a coveted piece to the D corps construct.
Coach Gow emphasized, “Landing a right shot two way defender has been a priority for our Team. As a Defenseman myself I can’t wait to work with him and create depth on our back end.”
Melo is no stranger to a couple current Bucs players including Jaxin Karst, who played spring hockey with Mason, and Ethan Nordli, who skated alongside Melo in Notre Dame.
Melo arrived in Nanaimo late Wednesday and will make his debut in the Bucs yellow, white & black wearing #8.
The Bucs play host to the Oceanside Generals on Thanksgiving Monday, October 13.
Puck Drop is 12:30 PM.
Let’s Go BUCS!
