NANAIMO, BC – July 2025 — The Nanaimo Buccaneers have officially appointed Tyler Gow as their new Head Coach for the upcoming 2025–26 Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) season.
A Nanaimo native with deep ties to the local hockey community, Gow steps into the role after previously serving on the Buccaneers’ coaching staff and assisting with the team’s cultural turnaround in 2024. Known for his leadership, discipline, and developmental mindset, Gow has earned widespread respect for his work behind the bench.
Before joining the Buccaneers, Gow played NCAA hockey with the St. Norbert Green Knights and later coached at the junior level with the Nanaimo Clippers (BCHL). His experience across both playing and coaching roles has made him a familiar and trusted figure in Vancouver Island hockey circles.
During the 2024 season, Gow worked under veteran coach Bill Bestwick, helping lead a dramatic team transformation rooted in accountability and effort.
