The Nanaimo Buccaneers are excited to officially welcome a talented group of new players to the organization for the 2026–2027 season. With a strong mix of local talent and international experience, the future continues to look bright for the Buccaneers as preparations begin for another exciting year of VIJHL hockey.
Joining the Buccaneers crease is Swiss-born goaltender Lou Batista Bühler, who arrives in Nanaimo after playing with EHC Chur U18 Top in Switzerland. Bühler brings international experience, strong athleticism, and high-level development to the Bucs lineup as he makes the jump to Vancouver Island Junior Hockey.
Up front, the Buccaneers are pleased to add forward Nolan Ganter from Duncan, B.C. Ganter most recently suited up for Island HC 18U in the JPHL, where he developed into a skilled and hardworking forward capable of making an impact at both ends of the ice.
The Bucs are proud to welcome hometown products Owen Hyde, Rylan Maughan, and Kody Pham to the organization. All three Nanaimo-born players developed through the Pacific Coast Academy program, with Hyde playing forward, while Maughan and Pham strengthened their games on the blue line. The trio now gets the opportunity to continue their hockey journeys in front of hometown fans at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
The organization is excited to see this new group hit the ice and continue building toward the 2026–2027 season. Ownership, management, coaches, teammates, and fans would like to officially welcome Lou, Nolan, Owen, Rylan, and Kody to the Buccaneers family.
