Bucs Battle Hard in OT Loss

Sunday, October 26th – Nanaimo hockey fans were treated to a barn burner at the Nanaimo Ice Centre as the Buccaneers fell 5–4 in overtime to the Peninsula Panthers in a fast-paced matinee matchup.

The game featured non-stop action with the score tied 2–2 after one period and the Bucs taking a 4–3 lead into the second intermission. However, four consecutive penalties in the third period — and a costly one in overtime — swung momentum back to the Panthers, who capitalized to secure the win.

Jaxin Karst tallied twice for Nanaimo, while Dreyton Hayward and Nate Barclay each added singles. Goaltender Aaron Pichette was stellar once again, turning aside 38 of 43 shots — including 20 in the third period alone — to keep the Bucs in the fight.

With the single point, the Buccaneers move into sole possession of third place in the North Division.

Next up, the Bucs host the Port Alberni Bombers on Thursday, October 30th at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
Puck drops at 7:15 PM. Tickets are only 12 Buc$ — see you at the game!
