Buccaneers Recognized with VIJHL Awards

The Nanaimo Buccaneers had two players recognized as the VIJHL announced its 2025–26 season award winners, highlighting the impact the team had during a strong regular season.

Nate Barclay was named the league’s Top Defenseman, earning the Clayton Stoner Trophy after an outstanding season on the Buccaneers blue line. Barclay played a key role in Nanaimo’s success with his steady defensive play, leadership, and ability to contribute offensively from the back end.

Rookie standout Madden Cruickshank was also honoured, receiving the Larry Lamoureaux Trophy as Rookie of the Year. Cruickshank made an immediate impact in his first VIJHL season, showcasing his skill and poise while becoming an important part of the Buccaneers lineup.
