In a clash of division leaders, the Nanaimo Buccaneers battled back and snatched a gritty 4–3 overtime win on the road, with first star Nate Barclay burying the winner at 4:43 of the extra frame. Barclay was dominant all night, adding two assists to power Nanaimo’s comeback.
The Bucs (31-12-2, 64 pts, 1st in the North) refused to go away, never holding a lead until OT. Second star Curtis Freeman had a standout performance with a goal and two assists, while Dylan Lazaroff and Kai Verbrugge added singles. Tanner Ferrill stood tall with 32 saves to backstop the win.
Next up: The Buccaneers will face off against Campbell River at 3:15 pm at the Nanaimo Ice Centre tomorrow, February 22nd. It’s a special event—join us in celebrating our 20-year-old graduates and a special jersey presentation, happening just before puck drop.
