Nanaimo Falls Short in Oceanside

Despite a strong battle on the road, the Nanaimo Buccaneers came up just short in a 4-2 decision against the Oceanside Generals on Saturday night.

Nanaimo (33-13-2, 68 points, 1st in the North) struck twice on the power play, with goals coming from second star Jack Barrett and Dreyton Hayward. Goaltender Tanner Ferrill was outstanding, turning aside 49 shots to keep the Bucs in the fight as the teams were tied 1-1 and 2-2 through the first two periods.

Next up, the Buccaneers turn their focus to the North Division Semifinals, opening a best-of-seven first-round series against the Campbell River Storm. Game 1 goes at home on March 2nd at the NIC — puck drops at 7:05pm.

Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on their Buccaneers as they make their first playoff appearance in six years.
