NANAIMO POWERS PAST OCEANSIDE TO STAY ON TOP

The Nanaimo Buccaneers delivered a statement game at the Nanaimo Ice Centre, skating to a commanding 7–1 victory over the Oceanside Generals in a battle for top spot in the North Division.

Newcomer Dylan Honschuh made an immediate impact in his Bucs debut, scoring twice in the second period to help break the game wide open. Nanaimo carried period leads of 3–0 and 6–1, showcasing depth throughout the lineup.

The Bucs’ attack was rounded out by Boston Cripps, Nate Barclay, Rhys Wilcox, Madden Cruickshank and Ethan Nordli, while Kane Law added an assist and earned third-star honours.

At the other end of the rink, All-Star goaltender Aaron Pichette held things steady, stopping 25 shots, including 13 in the third period, to lock down the win.

With the victory, Nanaimo improves to 27-10-1, opening a four-point lead atop the North Division with two games in hand.

Next up, the Buccaneers hit the road to Campbell River to face the Storm as they close out the month of January. Puck drops at 7:30 pm.
